Classes

Writing : A Life, offered through The Bauen Camp

time: Friday November 5, 9:30-12

location: TBA, Parkman, WY

We are all the expert witnesses of our own worlds, holding memories and details only we can describe. In this intensive class, we will investigate our minds, bodies, relationships, experiences, and anything else we can get a hold of, creating poems from our lives. Together, we will capture some of these moments in a series of writing experiments in which each of us is the star character. At the end of the class, we will each have started our autobiography in poetry and hones the tools to keep expanding and writing through our lives. Absolute beginners and more experienced writers welcome.

Collaboration: Getting Out of the Garret, offered through Hollowdeck Press

time: Sunday December 5, 2-4:30

location: TBA, Boulder, CO

What happens when you open up your work to another mind, or two, or three? Collaboration can be an energizing and sustaining practice in the life and work of a writer. “Collaboration,” from com “with” and labore “to work,” offers new creative, social and cultural possibilities to any artist. We’ll explore different forms of collaboration with the written word – looking at collaborations with other writers, with past writing of your own, with visual art, photography, song, and movement. We’ll look at collaborating when you’re in the room with someone, collaborating long-distance, collaborating with yourself, and collaborating with ‘silent partners.’
